Cartoid body tumour: demonstration by angiography.
This patient with persistent hypertension after the removal of a left adrenal phaeochromocytoma had elevated levels of catecholamines in the right side of the neck on venous sampling. Subsequent cartoid arteriography demonstrated a typical cartoid body tumour. On this lateral film the cartoid bifurcation is seen to be splayed by the tumour which lies between the origins of the internal and external cartoid arteries. The blood supply of the tumour arises from the proximal external cartoid artery and a tumour blush is present.
